Hello educator friends,
Over the past several years–hell, for almost two decades now–I’ve been thinking a lot about how to express my discomfort with the dichotomous nature of a lot that we see, hear, and talk about in education. For example, I’ve written about growth mindset before here, and about the messages about learning we send to students and families through our practices here, but this month I wanted to try to express myself using a different modality. Since I’ve been dabbling in comic writing lately, I thought I might as well give it a whirl.
The way this particular comic is formatted was inspired by a picture book my youngest daughter Sydney wrote at school a few weeks ago, which in turn was inspired by the amazing wordless book Zoom by Istvan Banyai. Hope you enjoy it*.
*Big thanks again to my Twitter buddy Mitch Nobis, whose tweets have inspired the title of my comic.
