I am a literacy specialist with almost two decades of public school teaching experience. I have worked as a K-6 literacy specialist/coach, a language arts teachers for students in grades 6-8, and a children’s librarian. I am a national speaker, a member of The Educator Collaborative, and the author of RENEW! Become a Better–and More Authentic–Writing Teacher from Stenhouse Publishers, which you can preview here. My next book for Stenhouse is due out in the fall of 2019–yay!
In the interest of being completely transparent, I also have an unhealthy obsession with all things #BachelorNation. Go ahead, judge me.

I would like to talk with you about the possibility of the ACLU becoming involved with the letter you received from your school district. Please contact me.
We just sent the district a second letter in response…I would like to give them a chance to “refine” their response to our request before I contact you. But I will be in touch if their response stays the same. Thank you!
