The Power of Revision

revision

Hello friends!

I wanted to share the piece I wrote for the March/April 2017 edition of the International Literacy Association‘s bi-monthly magazine, Literacy Today, called “The Power of Revision.” We often talk about the value and the power of revision in regard to our writing practice–but what about harnessing that power in the context of our teaching practice?

This piece is only a small preview of what you will find I’ve written about in my debut book for Stenhouse Publishers, titled Renew! Become a Better–and More Authentic–Writing Teacher. My hope is that the book, which is due to drop in late spring/early summer, will inspire you to find a wealth of possibility and promise in your practice as an educator as you explore the important concepts of revision and renewal.

Also please make sure you check out the incredible work of my fellow Literacy Today contributors, including Rusul Alrubail, Kate Roberts, Sara Ahmed, and Harvey “Smokey” Daniels, among others. This issue is chock-full of inspiring ideas and practices, and because it serves as a preview of ILA’s Annual Conference, is open access. Sweet!
